Why Art with Meaning?

Many of Anne’s works are enhanced by meaningful quotations and a written description of her ideas for their creation.

Although Anne’s paintings can be appreciated on a purely decorative level, she interprets her subject matter through a mystical lens, creating a meditative canvas — a spiritual companion to take home and enjoy.

The Golden Moment: Past, Present, and Future

Acrylic on 3 canvases framed as one - 24” x 72”

It seemed to me as I was envisioning this painting that each of us has a sacred challenge — to become who we are destined to be within the only time we are given that power — the precious, fleeting, Golden Moment of the Now — for the past is over and the future is dependent on the “Nows” of what will soon be the past.

“LOVE is the core energy that rules everything.Love is the one ingredient that holds us all together.”

-John E Fetzer

Scientists tell us that we are made of the same substances as the stars.  I like that.  And, song writers tell us that “love makes the world go ‘round.” I like that, too. The stitches on this single quilt square tell me that we are held together in a beautiful design with perfect skill and patience, each different, and  unique, and loved, and wanted, and made of stars, shining altogether in the starry night.

“Nobody says to a sunflower, “You are Dying.” She simply turns her face to the earth and spills her seeds. All is ripening on the curve.”

(A remembered quotation:)

- Meridel Le Sueur

A friend gave me an orphaned pre-1930’s quilt block, mellowed and varied in color and pattern.  I found the vintage embroidered sunflower square.  Now they are friends in a painting that commemorates the eternal cycle of life spilling life.   I have loved this quotation for decades.  I wanted to visually honor its richness, wisdom and its everlasting love story—an inspiration to the world telling of rebirth, and life seeding life, age after age.
