Who is Anne Strand?

Anne’s early years as a successful Artist were followed by earning her Doctorate, becoming a licensed Psychotherapist and Episcopal Chaplain for 31 years, and returning to Art in later years. Anne attended the New York Studio School and is a veteran of many One-Woman Gallery Exhibitions plus a One-Woman Museum Retrospective of her work.

Wife, mother and grandmother, Strand has done it all. She signs her paintings with a stamp, given to her to commemorate the birth of her first grandchild, meaning “Grandmother-Wise-Woman.”

Her Mission

“As I look back, what seems always to have been my calling is to guide myself and others in finding and nurturing that fragile connection — so easily lost — to our unique Selves, to others and to the sacred energy of the universe.”

“Abstract art can help us maintain a connection to the sacred because it accesses something unknowable, catches the spirit, and leads us into the power of mystery.”

- Anne Strand

Her Style

Anne studied in Paris with Abstract Expressionist Elaine de Kooning. Elaine’s works are included in both the MOMA & Metropolitan Museum’s permanent collection.

Anne, Artist/Guide/Healer, sees the world through a mystical lens and views herself as an Abstract Expressionist*.

*(Abstract Expressionism expresses the ideas and feelings of the artist’s “inner world” and, many times, of the “inner world” of the viewer; while in Impressionism, the artist reflects a fleeting impression of what is seen in the “outer” world.)

“Life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved.”

  • Soren Kierkegaard
